The subject web application is written in VB.NET using Visual Studio 2002. Now, since newer hardware found in both server and development computers do not allow Visual Studio.Net 2002 to be installed, an upgrade has become inevitable, otherwise, the existing application is serving its users in most satisfactory manner. The second reason for upgrade is the subject web application is designed to redirect its response to reports created in Seagate Crystal Reports Ver 8.5 and call http call to show crystal report from Enterprise repository of the same version. Now, this reporting tool has no support and various report viewers available online are echoing inability to present any report designed in early versions than 9.x of SAP Crystal Report. Last of the reason for upgrade is the back-end database SQL Server 2005 is hosting database created in SQL Server 2000 that is not Mode-90 compatible. Therefore, any further upgrade of database will also be a problem. Is there any way other than re-writing the code and recreating the functions, views, stored procedures and triggers in mode-90 compatible mode? This is a serious scenerio and community's discussion is earnest requested. If Microsft can offer some solution on the problem it would be still better.
