Question about signing assemly with same public key token when password was lost to pfk file

I had to make some changes to a project in VS2010 from a former employee. The compiled assembly needs to be deployed to the GAC as it used by many people and they cannot change the reference to a new Public Key token. I attempting to sign an assembly using the same strong name key file but it password protected and the previous developer doesnt have the password anymore.. Is there any way to create the same Public key token when the password was lost. I know its a long shot but worth asking.
